Assignment One

BlackBerry Curve 8900
The item I most regret purchasing is my current mobile phone, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 which I purchased at the start of this year. I’ve always had a keen interest in qwerty keyboard phones as I do text often. What attracted me towards the blackberry 8900 are the useful features such as the Wi-Fi function, expandable memory up to 32GB and that it's the thinnest and lightest full-qwerty BlackBerry Smartphone released, weighing just 109.9 grams.

So the phone itself was very fast compared to my previous phones since it's running a BlackBerry O.S which was developed by RIM, who's known for designing smartphones.
However after a month, I’ve noticed some of the physical features of the phone began to irritate me.. The back cover of the phone was not securely in place so when holding the phone in a certain position and typing on the keyboard, it made a really annoying clicking sound! So I "attempted" to fix it myself with the use of some Blu-Tack. (Very useful, I know!)
Another problem involving the physical feature came up. This time it was one of the main features of the phone itself, the Trackball. When I first bought it, the trackball had worked perfectly, till after a couple months of use.. It decided to not respond to scrolling down or across the icons. This was important as the trackball is needed to navigate around the phone.

I didn't take any notice of it, as it would work after a few scrolling attempts, that is until it started doing it regularly which began to annoy me!

So the lesson I learnt is that I should research the design flaws in a mobile phone before purchasing so I know if I'll face any problems. But I guess I was too distracted by the specifications.
